Workshop FIVE// Booklet in Indesign

Use facing pages, Book must ALWAYS be a multiple of four in order for the book to work.

PERFECT BINDING- single bits of paper, then you would bind down the top edge. That would just be multiples of two.
READERS SPEAD : What you would actually see on screen if someone was reading the book.
Getting your pages in the right place before printing : First, we need some content on the pages.
If you look in the pages pallete. You will notice that every pages has a little A in the top of each corner.
THE A- You will notice the MASTER PAGES. Every single page when making a new document is based on a master page. You use the master page to add content. If you want certain content on every page of your document you will put it on the master page.

If you double click on the master page 'A-MASTER' (one of the two). it will send you to the master page. For example. If I then add something to this master page, it will then appear on every page on your document.

I simply added a green box to the master pages and when clicking off the master page...

Every page will then have this green box...

To unlock the text frame. press cmd+shift click
Once you have created what ever it was that you wanted on your master page. You won't be able to move or shift it. So again, simply press cmd+shift click

Pages Numbers

It will then put that number in the same place over every page. Make sure that you selected t A-Master page before doing so. To print, go to FILE : PRINT BOOKLET.
BOOKLET TYPES :
We will just go with saddle stitch. Once you have selected this, go to 'Print Settings'. If you want your pages to be A4, you will have to print onto A3 and LANDSCAPE

Make sure that your preview hasn't got an exclamation mark next to it and your pages are put in the right place.

Print Booklet dosen't work in digital print, However you can create a pdf to print there.

POST SCRIPT FILE :

PPD : POST SCRIPT PRINTER DESCRIPTION
ADOBE PDF 9.0 is a printer, this is a PPD, this will allow is us to create a post script file up to any size.
