Print and Web// Beginning stages of App 'On Yer Bike'

Loading Screens

This loading screen is simple and I think this is all it needs to have. It will firstly have the first example and then cross fade in to the second example 'On Yer Bike'. Can I please add that this won't actually be a real app. The final design will be presented on presentation boards and then handed in.

Location?

I have not yet chosen a font and these first examples are very basic. I want to get everything in place and find a nice style before working any further. So this will be where you find your location. Usually you can go on to maps and the phone will find your location but I like the idea you can find your route in lets say Madrid a week before going there.

Menu

So once you have chosen your location you will then continue to the Main Menu. Here you have :
  • A to B
  • Tourist
  • Leisure
  • About
  • Settings
  • Help
I have not yet decided weather I will do every single option. I may just do A to B as that is going to be very similar to 'Tourist" and "Leisure". The next thing I need to do are my illustrations  for each of the main menu icons. Organisation and colour of icons is not yet finished.

Now that my icons are complete I can move on to 'A to B'. I went with a new font but it dosen't look that readable from here. Will have to look into other fonts again.

Once you have pressed on the app from the main I-phone menu, you will then go though the first loading screen which will then cross fade into the apps name ‘On Yer Bike’. The next screen will then be your location or a location you want to look into. Usually, you won’t have to select your location because the phone can track that quite eailly. However, in this case you can select any location in the world so as to plan routes you way want to take in the near future. For example, say you were going to Amsterdam, in a week, you can plan routes in advance to save time and become more organsided. Now we come to the main menu of this application. You have many different paths including. A to B, Tourist (Routes you can take that will take you past famous landmarks) Leisure (Routes that take you to famous cafes, pubs and restaurants) About (Find out about the app) Settings (Here you can customise your app to suit you) and Help ( Get more information online about the app and how to use it)

Responsive// HellFire Final Design Without Colour

I decided to add the owl because apparently the owl is symbolic of leeds! Something I didn't know but this will probably be something that most people know. I just need to add colour now and then I think I will be all done! This is something I will end up doing when I am back at college as the brief is odd in it only wants you to design the front label, but want you to choose your own colour meaning the back of the bottle will be different colours to the front... Odd but I guess they just want the design ans then they can play around with the colours themselves. The 'Creative Networtks' label is rubbish too! We were not sent out a proper file meaning I had to live trace the logo and then just throw it in. You can see this because instead of the logo being a nice solid shape it is instead lumpy.
When the breif stated they wanted a modern looking beer my heart sank as those kind of beer designs are very boring. After my research I learnt that you could produce an odd feel on a modern looking design. So overall I am very happy with the outcome of my design. I just need to think about colout now and it will be finished!

GUNS

The guns I find are very hard to do, I can't seem to get them right! Its really getting on my nerves. I guess I will have to keep on experimenting until it looks acceptable.

Responsive// HellFire Design Sheets & Starting Off

This is the size of my document on Photoshop, The brief states that is must be 86 x 57mm with a bleed of 1.5mm.

Just trying to find a nice layout, I still need to find out what the colours are of the other beer. For the the back espically. Then I can copy the colour across onto this design. I'm really not liking this design though! I might look back at my design sheets and see what else I have.

I am really not liking this design. So I am going to stop with this design and look more into my research, everything about it isn't working for me! I want something that will be much more loud and in the end appealing to my target audience.

Print and Web// App Design Sheets

The main purpose of the app is to get the cyclist from A-B but also to give them a good idea of the possibilities they have in Brighton. Brighton i my new location as it is much smaller and much closer to me, this will make primary research  hell of a lot easier and Brighton is much smaller so I will be able to cover more distance. You will have an option to cover a particular route that will take you through a certain way of brighton. The app is more for site seeing against the signs which will be more for getting from A-B.

Print & Web// Map of Brighton

I decided I very good idea to quickly print out a map of Brighton and identify places that people might want to visit whilst visiting. I feel this is be part of the app I am going to make and of course it will give me a better idea of Brighton as a whole. I will be focusing on Central Brighton but I do want to involve London Road Station that it a bit far out but still would be good to envolve. I have also marked blue crosses where I think checkpoint should be situated.

THIS IDEA WAS NOT USED AS IT WAS NOT RELEVANT TO MY APP.

Print and Web// Workshop THREE, Group Feedback & New Ideas/ Thoughts

Strengths
  • Identified a good way finding system.
  • Like the bottom left logo, it stand out from the rest.
  • Good research, you have identified an area of London which are part of something similar.
Areas for improvement
  • How would you find out about the system...
  • Especially if your not from London!
  • Maybe just stick to the app and maps?
  • Is there a starting point?
  • Can you start anywhere?
  • Does it have to be in London? Maybe think about choosing a town or city that is smaller, it will make things easier
Considerations
  • Clarify your specific target audience
  • Research gill sans, underground typeface. Why were they created?
  • Investigate suitable typefaces for way finding.
  • How will you get visitors to take part with the system?
  • Have you thought about making each a point on the map? So it beeps etc!?
  • Include background information. Which route goes the fastest, which route is safest etc.
New Ideas/ Thought

  • I have decided to pick Brighton as a place instead of London because Brighton is smaller but at the same time attracts a huge amount of tourists.
  • There will be checkpoints at key tourists spots and of course the train stations in Brighton
  • Go to Brighton and photograph WELL all the places I want checkpoints
  • Maybe photoshop my designs in to the photos?
  • Make an APP that cyclists can get hold of and use throughout their stay
  • Make a leaflet that will be the main source of getting 'ON YER BIKE' out there to the public and tourists

Print and Web// Logo Ideas for 'On Yer Bike'

On Yer Bike!

For the beggining of the brief I have decided to work on the logo as I feel this is something I can do straight away. I want it to be plain and only using two colour I think this can be achieved quite easily.

I decided to make some city landscapes but in the design it really doesn't look right which is a shame because I was looking forward to having this! But, it doesn't work so I need to begin looking for some kind of alternative. Two pictures above you can see my almost finished design (Third one across) I need some kind of image between the 'ON YER' and the 'BIKE!'

I quite like this but I feel I might return to it in the future once I know I have a better idea of what I want to do. I am looking forward to my crit as I feel I need a push in the right direction.
