I ended up getting to job of a Data Inputter. This means I am some one who simply puts data in to a computer using a key board! We also have to bring in our Pro-Verb and mine is "Honesty is the Best Policy" which actually fits in quite well together. I then developed some idea related around data inputters but didn't really come up with anything worth expanding. So I came up with something quite different. A Data Inputter is so many things; Anyone who puts information into a computer is therefore a data inputter. I then started thinking about putting data in to a computer about an individual. A track record of who someone. This made me think of people on Benefits and Benefit Fraud. Data Inputters have the power to catch people mingling with Benefit Fraud.
I would like to produce either a poster or leaflet that is sent to a particular audience such as students that have graduated (The ones who find it hard to find work) and generally people in benefits.
The letter will be about being on benefits and the serious act of possible having a job at the same time. And that its better to be HONEST and do the right thing. If you ignore this and continue to pursue these actions you will be accused of BENEFIT FRAUD. Honesty being the better policy.
This is just an example that I quickly got together, however if this was a leaflet this would be the front and then on the back i would have facts and iconic symbols to explain to the audience CLEARLY of why its best to be Honest!
"...if you deliberately fail to report a change in your personal circumstances or are disHONEST about information supporting your benefit claim, you are treated as committing benefit fraud..."
If you are suspected of committing benefit fraud you will be contacted by the Department for Work and Pensions or your local authority. You may be visited by Fraud Investigation Officers or be asked to attend an interview to discuss your claim. Your benefit may be suspended while the matter is looked into. If this happens, you should receive a letter explaining what will happen next."- direct.gov.uk
See how this quote mentions HONESTY. Its a fair topic to pick when relating it to 'Honesty is the best policy'
"JSA may be available if a person is out of work or working less than 16 hours a week on average." - highland.gov.uk
"The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) estimated last week that UK unemployment would reach 3.2 million - or just over 10% of the workforce - by the second half of next year." - news.bbc.co.uk
"Benefit fraud is big business. It costs us about £3.5bn each year. Over twelve months the DWP found 200,000 benefit fraud cases with a high possibility of prosecution. Those were just the ones they knew about. And how many did it take to court? 7,483. In other words, the sheer scale of benefit fraud is overwhelming the system. Enforcement will never catch up with this tide of criminality.
Take Sheffield. In April 2011 the council there announced that it was to halve its housing benefit and council tax fraud investigation team, raising - according to the BBC - fears that criminals could slip through the net" - benefitfraud.org.uk
Now I want to experiment on the computer and see what I can create for tomorrows Crits.
